Construction
These are all the steps in our construction process. Please visit the Process and Calculation pages for all the other details about measurements and issues that were faced during the construction of our greenhouse.
Beginning the frame
First, we began with setting up the frame of the greenhouse. This consisted of digging out the dirt in one corner of the plot to make a spot for one end of the bamboo to be secured. We then replaced the dirt around the end of the bamboo.
Continuing the frame
We continued to bend the frame into an arch into the middle of the plot on the opposite side of the plot. We had two people, one on either side, making sure that the bamboo was not coming out of the holes in the dirt.

Problem solving
After the first dome entirely in place we moved on to the next dome. When we arched the first bamboo over we quickly learned that the bamboo was not elastic enough and the bamboo snapped making it very fragile and too bendable. We did what we could with duck tape and twine to force the bamboo into the desired arch. (You can see the arch that had the break in picture 2)
04
Securing the frame cont.
Once we secure the bamboo into the dirt and evenly crossed them over each other we secured the intersection of the bamboo with twine and tied it tightly. We made sure to loop around both sides, creating an X with the tie.

Covering
After setting up the first dome, and starting the second, we ran out of time for the day so we covered the first half with the plastic and only stapled it down for that half. We stapled the plastic on the inside to allow the water from rain to seep through the small openings and water the soil. We also did this to the other half once both skeletons were in place.
07
Creating Openings
The last crucial step was to create a way for any person to easy gain access to the different plants in our plot. To do this, we cut an "I" shape out of the plastic with box cutters, to get a crisper line and to prevent the plastic from warping around it. We then duck taped all of the inner sides to reinforce the plastic and to prepare it for the holes that would then be tied up.
Extra Touches
To put a convenient touch to our greenhouse we added a pocket on the front to put the separate ties when they weren't in use. We didn't want to lose them! We were concerned with the collection of water that might collect in the pouch so after duck taping we cut a few small holes right above the duck tape and in the extra plastic that served as the pouch. We made extra sure that we didn't cut through to the greenhouse itself.

Finishing!
With all else done, we sat back and looked at our job well done.
